Aztec deity linked to night, obsidian, conflict. Son of Ometecuhtli, he ruled the Toxcatl festival with sacrifice. His nagual was the jaguar, becoming Tepeyollotl. He governed the 1 Ocelotl trecena, patron of Acatl days, shown mastering the calendar in codices. Abalone chest discs, anahuatl, were his talismans, also worn by Huitzilopochtli. His roots trace to Olmec/Maya deities like Tohil, linked to obsidian and sacrifice.
