Greek god of the underworld, later known as Pluto. Originally called Hades, his name shifted with the Eleusinian Mysteries. He ruled the dead and deep earth, linked to wealth (Ploutos). Abducted Persephone, sharing rule as her husband; Romans equated him with Dis Pater.
