About Barbara McClintock
American cytogeneticist (1902-1992) who won the 1983 Nobel Prize for discovering transposons. McClintock earned a PhD in botany from Cornell in 1927 and pioneered maize cytogenetics. She demonstrated genetic recombination and the roles of telomeres and centromeres, revolutionizing genetics.
