About Irène Joliot-Curie
French chemist (1897-1956) who, with husband Frédéric, won the 1935 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering induced radioactivity. Daughter of Marie Curie, she was part of the only mother-daughter Nobel laureates. Irène was also a French government undersecretary and atomic energy commissioner.
