Tetrarchy
About Tetrarchy
Established by Diocletian (293-324 AD), this Roman system divided rule between two Augusti and two Caesares. Diocletian and Maximian ruled East/West, likened to Jupiter and Hercules. Succession crises and civil wars undermined its stability, ending with Constantine's sole rule.
