About Aziz Sancar
Born in Turkey (1946), Aziz Sancar is a Turkish-American molecular biologist. The 2015 Nobel laureate in Chemistry elucidated DNA repair mechanisms. His work on photolyase and nucleotide excision repair revolutionized the field. He is a professor at UNC and co-founded the Aziz & Gwen Sancar Foundation.
