About Rigoberta Menchú
K'iche' Maya from Guatemala, born in 1959. A human rights activist, she won the 1992 Nobel Peace Prize for her work publicizing Indigenous rights during and after the Guatemalan Civil War (1960-1996). Menchú founded the Winaq political party.
